The Color Run – Ft. Lauderdale
May 5th was The Color Run at Ft. Lauderdale’s historic downtown Riverwalk. With around 8000 participants and spectators, this event was a success. I had a chance to photograph the event and had a blast.
Here is a little information from The Color Run’s website:
The Color Run™, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.
“We call The Color Run the ‘Happiest 5K on the Planet’ because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment,” said Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run. And after hundreds of thousands of participants have crossed the finish line – the name has stuck.
The Color Run also focuses on giving back, choosing a local charity for each city we visit. We raised donations for over 60 local and national charities in 2012.
The Color Run’s hightlight charity was Ft. Lauderdale’s Riverwalk. Here is some information about Riverwalk:
Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization responsible for the programming, beautification and promotion of Riverwalk Park. They are composed primarily of volunteer private citizens and overseen by a board of directors. All members uphold the organization’s directive, as stated in its mission statement, “to be the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River.” They pursue their mission through a wide range of fundraising and membership events and advocacy on behalf of the Park through their informative website and Go Riverwalk magazine.
